MESH Network

HamNet MESH NetWork

What is a network Hamnet?
Amateur Radio Broadband Multimedia NETwork (HamNet), all based on the radio, TCP / IP, high-speed network for amateurs. Hamnet network as a modern, fast environment offers many possible applications. Currently transfer speed network Hamnet between 1 MB / s to 100 MB / s,
Depending on the technology. Network Hamnet has total use of TCP / IP protocol as a carrier layer. Since the basic protocol is TCP / IP protocol used in AXIP layer AX25 so AX.25 current infrastructure network is seen in the context of Hamnet. Hamnet not replace Internet. Hamnet does not offer Internet access. Hamnet is a closed network for radio amateurs providing fast communication via radio links based on existing technologies. They use AMPR.ORG /44.x.x.x/ domain to connect local networks around the world that have their own local radio
connected to the home port AMPR. As part of the network Hamnet, you can use different wireless networking (WiFi) tropology, starting with the classic hotspot (Access Point) ↔ WDS, Mesh network. Selecting tropology local network depends on
local solutions and the decisions of the local environment. Various tropology can together
connect to the LAN interface. What is the difference landmark WDS network and Mesh?
WDS (Wireless Distribution System) and Mesh is often considered synonymous. This functionality is the same as WDS router. WDS be determined by manual configuration of each access point, including the creation of static records packet forwarding. WDS does not set the best time in the event of hidden links to certain destinations to determine whether packets are dropped. Does not support dynamic reconfiguration of routes. Mesh routers automatically discover neighbors and learn the best route to each destination. If any of the routers do not respond, the packets are transmitted from the next with the best connectivity.

Wireless Mesh Hamnet (multipoint-to-multipoint) consists of a grid nodes, which are the backbone of the network. Nodes (nodes of the mesh) are able to automatically reconfigure and dynamic reconfiguration of staying connected network nodes. This interesting property eliminates the need for centralized network management. Intelligent routing enables stations to transfer data packets to other stations that may not be in direct wireless connection.

There are several versions of the software for HamNet MESH, some of them are:

Broadband-Hamnet (HSMM-Mesh):

http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/

There are software UBNT / Nanostation, LinkSys router

This version is much used in the USA

HamNET- Mesh BABEL version: (Polish version of SP2ONG)

http://wiki.hamnet.ugu.pl/firmware/babel/

HamNET- Mesh OLSRD version: (Polish version of SP2ONG)

http://wiki.hamnet.ugu.pl/firmware/olsrd/

There are software UBNT / Nanostation, Mikrotik and TP-LINK router.

This version is used in Poland and there are points / networks in several Polish cities and in the next article I will discuss in detail, its installation and setup because it allows low-byuzhdeten router to build a point of network infrastructure operating simultaneously as a gateway repeater, meteorological station sending data to APRS, customer point.

With this software was released and point in Vratsa working as a meteorological station upload data in APRS.
